The Story of San Rafael Tor

A man sat in a bar. The smoke of the epipes, floating about his rumpled western style hat, enshrouded his head. The light from the two bulbs in the rack of halo projectors illuminated his features. His nose was hard and pinched, his eyes were shallow and glowed. His long black mustache covered his cheeks from ear to ear. He was tonight's musical feature at a spaceport bar on the west side of town. The bar and the neighborhood had seen better days, but today had been a good day. The musicians finished off a rolling tune and took a sip of their drinks. A smattering of claps filtered up from the crowd which was mostly more interested in grim conversations bent over half warmed glasses of taupe prime and barley. In the corner a dark figure glared over his steaming cup of jav and scowled at the band.
"And now a song that has grown in acclaim in the past few years but not as much as the man that it tells about." The musician strummed his instrument and the band picked up a melodious tune in support of their lead player. He opened his mouth and began to sing.

"There once was a man they called San.
He was a mellow man with quite the tan,
you see he got too much sun from too much spacing.
Before he was San the man came from a moon.
A moon called Medelliun was his boon, afore he was known,
and his name was Rafael before he was grown."

"Oh here is the story of San Rafael,
A man before his time and before he fell.
He made a trip and led a pirate life,
everywhere he went he carried a big pocket knife."

"Now Rafael was not small and spritely,
and wielded the word like he was mighty.
He taught men, you know, to rule the verse,
and bought garbage scowls to fatten his purse."

"So join me now in his tale of delight,
and come through history and take all night.
For this tale is not long in the telling
but it fills the rolls and comes out swelling.
For here is the tale of San Rafael Tor"

"Oh here is the story of San Rafael,
A man before his time and before he fell.
He made a trip and led a pirate life,
everywhere he went he carried a big pocket knife."
